A few shots from my recent work.

Jewelry series for a local jeweler. The goal was to show all the artistry of the handcrafted pieces. Such results were normally achieved with large cameras such as a Sinar and with shifting and tilting of the the lens and the picture plane. I used a full frame DSLR instead, with focus stacking technique. Some of the pictures were made with over 20 pictures and combined to a single shot with almost endless DOF. Most of the gems in the masterpieces are Sapphires from Tanzania and they not perfect in the terms of cleanness and show some flaws, such as small cracks or inclusions. This is not an issue. It is a sign, that this gems were not treated with high temperatures, as it is common for crystal clear Sapphires. They represent a more archaic and rare style of jewelry.

My «Jewelry» pictures were shot with NIKON D3 and NIKON D800 DSLRs and  a NIKKOR AF-S VR 105mm Micro lens, under studio conditions. All compositings and the fine tuning has been made in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Apple Aperture 3. The focus-stacking has been done with Helicon Remote and Helicon Focus software.

My «True Grit» pictures were shot with my NIKON D3 DSLR and a NIKKOR AF-S 17-35mm, f 

1:2,8  lens, at a setting around 24mm/f 8 in the studio with a 3 strobe lightening setup.  The backgrounds were shot with the same equipment and settings, except the strobes. I used available
light. All the basic work, fine tuning and compositing has been done in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Photomatix for the HDR part.

Some pictures of my 2011 Beauty-Shoot for «Magisches Haar» Hairstylist

 

My «Living Jewelry» pictures has been shot in August 2011with my NIKON D3 DSLR and a NIKKOR AF-S 85mm, f 1:1,4 D lens, under studio conditions. All the fine tuning of the pictures has been made in Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Apple Aperture 3. I made these shots for MAGISCHES HAAR Switzerland, as an in shop design of the hairstylists shop and for advertisements such as billboards, posters, flyers and postcards. The models were all amateurs in the modeling business and did a great job. All the little creepy reptiles came from friends, some of the guys are really specialists in reptiles as their hobby. The whole styling of the models has been done by the shop owner of MAGISCHES HAAR.

At the Beach

At the Muizenberg Beach in South Africa, in front of the colorful beach huts, we spent half an hour, before the rain comes again. The light was great and we had lots of fun for a few shots with friends.

My «At the Beach» pictures were shot with my NIKON D3 DSLR and a NIKKOR AF-S 70-200mm, f 1:2,8 D VR lens, with available light. All the fine tuning of the pictures has been made in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Apple Aperture 3.
